Direct Service Workforce Investment Grant Announcement
Over the past year, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has worked with providers and stakeholders on the best ways to maximize the one-time enhanced funds from the American Rescue Plan to improve home-and community-based services for Medicaid beneficiaries. Building on feedback from more than 660 stakeholders, FSSA’s Home-and Community-Based Service Spend Plan includes investing an estimated $817 million into the Home and Community Based landscape through March 2025.
The Direct Service Workforce Investment Grant is an integral part of this spending plan. Direct service workers are essential in providing the day-to-day, in-person services and supports necessary for people to live, work, and participate in their communities.
First quarter 2023 Community HCA, Inc. received the first of the three quarterly awards. The FSSA grant will be used to support our direct service workforce (DSW).
We plan to use $96.3 thousand in funds in the following ways to invest in our DSW:
- Bonuses: To provide immediate support to our workforce, we plan to issue bonuses to our direct service workforce. We will dedicate 60% of the grant amount towards this activity. We will issue bonuses based partly on full-time, part-time and years of service status.
- Bereavement Leave: We will dedicate 12.5% of the grant amount towards providing 3 days of bereavement leave with pay for our direct support staff.
- Retention Activities / Training: We will dedicate 12.5% of the grant amount towards providing training.
- Dental and Vision: We will dedicate 10% of the grant amount towards the 2023 Open Enrollment for Dental, Vision and Life Insurance.
We are proud to be recognized as a partner with FSSA as we work together to improve the quality of life for our clients, our employees, and our community.
