The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has worked with providers and stakeholders over the past year to determine how to best use enhanced federal funds from the American Rescue Plan.
The goal: improve home- and community-based services for Medicaid beneficiaries across Indiana.
FSSA’s Home- and Community-Based Services Spend Plan—shaped by input from more than 660 stakeholders—will invest $817 million into the HCBS system through March 2025.
A key part of this plan is the Direct Service Workforce Investment Grant. This grant supports the caregivers who provide daily, hands-on services that allow people to live, work, and thrive in their communities.
Community HCA Awarded Grant
In the first quarter of 2023, Community HCA, Inc. received the first of three quarterly awards from the Direct Service Workforce Investment Grant.
We are honored to receive this support and proud to reinvest these funds directly into our team.
How We’re Using the Funds
Community HCA received $96,300 in funding and we will use the grant in the following ways:
- 💵 Bonuses (60%) – Immediate financial support for our direct service workforce. Bonuses will be based on employment status (full-time or part-time) and years of service.
- 🕊️ Bereavement Leave (12.5%) – Three days of paid leave for direct support staff during times of loss.
- 🎓 Retention Activities & Training (12.5%) – Training opportunities to strengthen skills and support long-term retention.
- 👓 Dental, Vision & Life Insurance (10%) – Contributions toward 2023 Open Enrollment for added staff benefits.
